Open to aspiring dancers and those who want to add a little rhythm to their lives,
Dance Zone Performing Arts Centre (DZPAC) offers classes in jazz, tap, ballet, hip hop, contemporary and modern for dancers ages three to adult –and yes, the adult program gets to participate in the year end performance!
With two studios in Nova Scotia, DZPAC has been in the community for 25 years bringing dance to the Halifax Regional Municipality and Hants County.
Instructors bring new creative modern dance styles year after year, attending workshops in Florida, Montréal and Toronto to keep up with the latest styles and dance forms. The school offers recreational classes that run for 10 weeks and a troupe program that has dancers taking on a number of dance routines competing in CANDANCE and Millenium Dance Festival.
This year, the studio switched from British Association of Teachers of Dance (BATD) syllabus to Associated Dance Arts for Professional Teachers (ADAPT) syllabus which offers exams in tap, ballet and jazz. The year end recital, on Sunday May 15, will showcase DZPAC’s dancers in a variety of their dance routines from the year.
DZPAC also has a company called
Millenium Productions which hosts the largest dance festival in the Maritimes. Held every year for six full days, the competition brings in dancers from all over the Maritimes –this year bringing in its largest group of competitors.
Millennium Productions is getting ready for our summer workshop, Millennium Inspiration Tour, held August 15 to 19 in Halifax with some very exciting instructors coming from all over, including members of the Blueprint Cru.
