It's Broadway time on
Dancing with the Stars! Kicking off the night was a Broadway performance from the cast of Sister Act singing Raise Your Voice.
With
Carson Kressley gone and five weeks under their belt, the contestants were given a bigger challenge having to each dance two routines (an individual dance and a group dance).
Cha cha-ing their way along the dance floor for their individual dance was
Rob Kardashian and
Cheryl performing to
Jersey Boys' "Walk Like A Man". Beginning with a booty shake the young Kardashian looked nervous, but once he got to moving on the floor (especially with the quick footwork) he relaxed. Though his family was screaming in the audience, the judges didn't have the best comments to give him. As
Carrie Ann said, he lacked the confidence he had from previous weeks. Score: 22
Donning medieval gear with some glitz were
Nancy Grace and
Tristan for their
Spamelot routine. With the Foxtrot, Nancy wanted a more challenging routine. Well, this was definitely different from previous routines- she was genuinely smiling and having a good time. Most of the judges loved this side of the
HLN lady with Carrie Ann giving Nancy her first nine of the season, yet
Len pointed out the lack of hold and proper posture Nancy had. Score: 24
David Arquette Grease-d up with
Kym dancing the quickstep to "We Go Together". Hoping to surprise the audience and himself, he gave his dance that extra "paaah" as he liked to describe. He didn't dissapoint! He entertained the crowd with his energy even though the judges thought his technique was a little rough. Score: 23
With a
Guys and Dolls number,
Ricki Lake and
Derek redeemed themselves with the Quickstep. Dressed in style and exuding glamour, Derek was right to push Ricki during rehearsals because it paid off. The pair had the entire room on their feet including Carrie Ann and
Bruno. Getting tens from both judges, Len finally cracked and gave a celeb a score above seven. "Luck be the Lady Tonight" indeed. Score: 29
Chaz Bono and
Lacey took on the
Phantom of the Opera with a Tango. With this episode as week six, it seems like all the pros were pushing their partners to the limit and Lacey was no exception. Upping the ante with more technique, Chaz tried his best to put on a strong, bold performance fit for a Tango. The judges didn't love it and as the pair received their scores, you could tell Chaz was disappointed. Score: 19
Dancing the Rumba was
Hope Solo and
Maksim to a
Rent theme. The last few weeks have been rough on the soccer star and by the looks of the rehearsal footage, Maks is pressuring her to step up her game (and confidence). Bringing in the female dance troupe members, Hope got a little lesson in the art of femininity. Though you could see an effort and a softer side to her, it still wasn't enough to impress the judges. For Len, it was the worst performance from Hope which sparked an outburst from Maks who wasn't pleased with any of the judges comments saying they were very 'judgemental'. Well, they are there to judge. Hopefully Maks' venting wasn't the reason for the low score. Score: 20
Last up was JR Martinez and Karina with a
Chicago-inspired Quickstep. They looked destined for Broadway and JR made the dance look so easy, even though Karina gave him one of the most difficult routines she choreographed for the show. That included hops in the air and cartwheels. It paid off because everyone was on their feet and had Len smiling. Great way to end the individual routines! Score: 29
Before we could see the group performance, Broadway powerhouse
Kristin Chenoweth put on a little number that featured members of the dance troupe. Right after, the contestants got together for a group routine choroegraphed by
Kevin Maher assisted by recently booted out Carson Kressley. The dance wasn't being scored so it was nice to see them just dance without any pressure.
It's tough to say who is going home. With Maks lashing out at the judges, Hope may be going home. Tune in tomorrow for the results!
